Jan FB Post by Laura's son, Max:

I'd like to preface this with an apology for the delay; I havent had access to a proper interface to type this out until today.

As some of you are already aware, my mother Laura Stuker passed away two weeks ago. She was surrounded by her family, including myself. Per her requests, no service was held, and she was cremated. The majority of her ashes will be planted along with a tree near her home. I will carry a small portion of them for the rest of my days.

She was an incredible fighter, and fought for - and won - an excellent and expansive life. There were many times we would joke about her being in a long distance relationship with death, but the truth is she loved living, and did so with a stubborn joy that never truly faded.

That kind of fight is exhausting on the mind and body, however, and after nearly a decade of cancer, she had exhausted herself in fullest sense. She is at peace now, and i cannot find sadness at her passing, only that she is no longer here.

Thank you all for being a part of her time here. I hope we get to meet some shade of her again someday.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. Laura was my first friend in 6th grade at Sterrett School. We went on different paths but reunited thru this site a few years ago. She told me about her life, illness and her son, who seemed to be the light of her life!! She adored him and was very proud of him. You have my deepest condolences.

I remember Jeanne Klein, who just posted a tribute to Laura.  Until 1974, I lived at the corner of Reynolds and Murtland, where Jeaane would frequentky pass by.  In regards to Laura, I knew her for a few years at Calvary Episcopal church, where her father was the music director.   I also had a few classes with her at TAHS - in the 10th grade, I believe.    I got along fine with her.
